Project Assistant

Professor Alicia Walker (History of Art, Bryn Mawr College) is seeking assistants for a summer digital scholarship project. Students will help with the imaging of archival documents, data entry, and/or data management. Competency in French and/or Italian a plus. Must be able to work collaboratively, maintain close attention to detail, and handle historical documents carefully. Positions are available to assist on site in Rome from May 21 to June 1 and at Bryn Mawr College in June, July, and/or August.

Work in Rome will be conducted at the archive of the White Fathers, a Catholic Missionary Society, and students must be prepared to conduct themselves professionally in this institution. Please note: the archive building is not air conditioned; students must be able to work productively for three hour periods in a non-climate-controlled environment. Students’ travel expenses and room/board will be covered for the two-week period. In addition, students will be paid by $10/hour for their work (total 60-80 hours over the two-week period).

Work at Bryn Mawr will be entirely digitally based, and will involve scrubbing and building data and publishing groups of archival documents online. Work conducted at Bryn Mawr can be flexible in terms of hours and time period and will be paid on an hourly basis.

Please contact Alicia Walker awalker01@brynmawr.edu with any questions. Applications should be submitted by Friday, March 30th online at [add URL for online application]. There are separate applications for work in Rome and at Bryn Mawr. Students are welcome to apply for both positions.
